To Curate

To curate: to select, arrange and present.

Curating pieces to bring together in my own unique way is my preferred way to express myself from a fashion perspective IRL and in SL. I really appreciate SL creators who offer separates that can be curated as we see fit. For those of you who have been around SL for a long time, we used to have creators who released full collections in seasons – just like actual fashion houses. Brands like Paper Couture and Dazzle/Last Call would literally swing the fashion pendulum every time they released a new collection in world. It was a very special time in SL fashion, IMO, and I miss it.

In honor of staples like Tetra’s pleated skirt and Rowne’s Anka blouse – pieces that form the very bedrock of my cherished foundational wardrobe in SL – I put together some simple styles based on my love of curating separates. In terms of new releases, I was happy to see that two brands I enjoy collaborated on a collection released this earlier week. The pieces from ISON x Rowne are modern, simple and chic. Some of them are mixable – with each other or with other items in your inventory. My favorite is definitely the Lexi jumpsuit. The details are amaze.

However, I have two small “curate complaints”:

1. The Brito blouse doesn’t fit well with the Lia trousers unless you want to wear it as a belly top. These are two major staple pieces and if there was a longer version of the blouse, it coudl be worn with both trousers in the collection; and
2. Unfortunately you cannot get the neutral blush color on ANY of the pieces unless you buy each fatpack. I would rather pay separately for that color…which is I guess the strategy. But, rather than incentivizing me to buy all the fatpacks, which I always do if I like something, it almost has the opposite effect.

Despite my nitpicks, all the pieces are super well done and versatile. I enjoyed!
