I’ve had a little change of heart re: subscription boxes. Well sort of and sometimes. Let me explain.
I don’t really subscribe in general to subscription boxes in SL. I have tried Luxe Box (fun to unbox; some great content; good price) and now I have tried Powder Pack (for LeLutka only). I have also spent a lot of time lamenting the days when fashion and beauty in SL weren’t so curated. I don’t like the constant “gameification” of good content because I worry that it takes the place of inspiration that doesn’t wear creators out because sales might be tied to some recurring theme or gimmick.
Get in early
However, what I have decided is that the best time to partake in SL subscription services is via the early boxes! You can be assured that everyone is in try hard mode to shore up subsequent sales, so you’re almost guaranteed great content all wrapped up in a deal. At least to start. Personally, I do not believe that a collection of applier makeups are worth $1500L/month. However, if there are quality full skin and body appliers in the box too? Then, yes, that makes a lot more sense. And there are. Oh yes, there are. We shall see what subsequent boxes look like.

In addition to the makeups, there are four full skin appliers I think, three of which are shown above. I actually *really* liked them all and for $1500L, that’s a great price. Even with the “misses” in the box for me, it’s well worth it. I also found very usable lashes, eyeshadows and some lips that I will probably use again. The question becomes, how many sparkly eyeshadows and matte lipsticks can you really use in SL? Well, if it’s anything like real life, for me there is no end to my spend at Sephora, for example. But I strongly suspect there is a much more finite limit in SL. We shall see. If the creators continue to include some full skins and not just makeups, I can see this becoming a very addictive subscription!
