all good things…

…must come to an end. August is flying by. I’m at the beach with my sister – like we’re kids again. Been sleeping late and napping frequently. Heaven. Maybe I love August so much because it’s especially precious and fleeting. Sadly, all good things must come to an end.

I feel like this style really reflects August for me. Relaxed, slightly rumpled from a suitcase and salt air, obviously well-worn. Only my hair, bow headband (!!!ily), and skin are super new. I’m hopeful I will find more that I gravitate to in the SL clothing department soon – it’s been an absolute drought for me for what feels like months. If not, all the good things in my inventory will in fact be worn over and over again 🙂

So I guess not all good things must come to an end, after all.

I don’t know how long the whole blogging to a backdrop thing will continue (this one is again courtesy of Minimal), but here we are after a brief inventory dive. I used to really love this one, and somehow ended up creating a coordinating look circa 1950, complete with headscarf and diet pop. Totally unintended, but I’m into it.

Oh and I’m heading down to the beach IRL this week – a much needed respite from moving boxes and hemorrhaging money. You know I love an August beach trip and I seriously need a vacation. I’ll have my laptop so we shall see if I log in on a wine-y evening from the deck.

something old, something blue

It’s been a minute since I snapped a style against anything other than my plain background. I know, “she’s so boring yadda yadda.” But since I stopped off at C88 to see what was available for the massive birthday round (not a ton for me, as it turned out), I was inspired by the depth and detail in this backdrop set from Minimal. And of course, I am recently obsessed with exactly these shades of blue.

Then of course, I needed this baby doll dress by BTTB – but to get this particular beautiful print, the fatpack was the only choice – discounted for the event thankfully <3 Speaking of which…do you remember when the only dresses you could ever really find in SL were baby doll dresses? I swore off them for many years but apparently the trauma has finally passed. I especially love the print against this this well worn cabinet and peeling paint.

I’ll have to revisit some of my many Minimal backdrops now collecting digital dust, since this one did wonders for my general inspiration level. The last time I was at the Minimal Gallery, the monthly-ish group gifts weren’t organized by year, requiring SL forensics to figure out which I already had. But to be clear, Minimal has – IMO – the best selection of backdrops in all of SL.

salt air…

It’s my favorite month. August is so special for a million reasons, most especially when the weather and light starts to shift. Days like today are insanely hot but yet, a strong breeze somehow ushers in the first hints of fall. By the middle of the month, we’ll really begin to feel it here in Boston. Trust.

I couldn’t even bear to put very much clothing on my avatar in this RL heat – so a soft, sheer linen dress seemed perfect. IRL I’m even far less put together, but it’s the weekend. No makeup will grace my actual face until Monday.
